What We Do
District Strategic Planning Services
The value of a strategic planning process is to create a reasonable, actionable and doable strategic plan. Not lofty ideas and wishful thinking but relevant, appropriate and broadly supported strategies for continued learning improvements. It is through our disciplined and thorough approach that we can assure that our strategic plans are indeed reasonable, actionable, doable, relevant, appropriate and broadly supported.
Thoroughness in engaging participation of stakeholders, thoroughness in detailing current practices and learning outcomes, thoroughness in understanding the intricacies of both the what’s and why’s underlying current practices and learning outcomes, thoroughness in identifying the strengths within existing practices, thoroughness in detailing action plans with benchmarks.
Orion strategic planning is focused on future levels of learning targets and is cast in the context of planned and proactive strategies. These strategies and plans are rooted in a methodology of future improvement built from the strength of existing practices.
We lead district stakeholders through a disciplined series of steps to define an agreed upon image of the desired state. Thereafter, they are led through steps to dissect the district strengths and areas of current improvement and identify the inhibiting and accelerating forces around each. Using the focus and discipline of force field, fishbone and problem-solving analyses, district stakeholders develop a thorough comprehension of the inter-connected factors before undertaking planning actions. Action plans with timelines attached are then prioritized using Pareto analyses. The need for resources is established in concert with these action plans.
This final component of the strategic planning process is critical in that all of the work of district stakeholders depends on the action planning phase in order to move the strategic plan into district-wide continuous improvement of student performance.
